Convenient data entry is one the key selling points for Blackberry devices. So it’s no wonder that Research in Motion has been experimenting with various keypad configurations/layouts for a while now.
None of them have translated into an actual mobile phone yet, but with all those funds going into handset usability R&D, something new and interesting is bound to come out of the RIM labs eventually.
The latest RIM patent application for a phone with slide-out QWERTY keyboard, got us thinking of how the actual Blackberry device with such configuration may look like. And, with a little help from Photoshop, here’s what we got:
Looks rather interesting, especially if you add an optical touchscreen, that RIM has been working on for a while too.
Will such a device become part of the new upcoming Blackberry 9000 series? I have no idea.
But it would certainly be an interesting Blackberry to play with.
